Abeer has a MA in Conflict Resolution from Juba Univerity and a BSc in Education from Khartoum University. She volunteered and worked at the Gender Center for Research and Training (GCRT), Sudan as an Assistant Coordinator. Abeer has most recently worked with the Carter Center, Sudan as a Programme Officer on three different projects: International election monitoring for Lebanese preliminary elections in 2009; International observation project in Sudan; domestic projects monitoring. As part of her duties she was responsible for assisting local NGOs build their capacities on election observation and voter civic education.
Research interests:
- The interaction between arms trade and conflict resolution.
- The interaction between formal education and socio economic transformation, democracy, good governance and human rights issues.
