Ms. Patricia Nangiro is governance and human rights professional with 6+ years of progressive experience in designing, implementing and monitoring community based gender, women protection and empowerment programmes among conflict affected agro-pastoralist Karimojong communities and refugees in Uganda. Ms. Patricia studied in Makerere University where she obtained her first degree in Urban Planning. After joining the field of human rights, she discovered her passion is in equality and social justice. She then went on to obtain an M.A of Local Governance and Human Rights from Uganda Martyrs University to integrate her learning and practice. She has undertaken research in Karamoja, specifically analysing gender realities in agro-pastoralist communities, development impact of out-migration on Bokora communities and influence of conflicts on urban planning. Patricia believes that governance and leadership are very critical in attainment of equality, human security and sustainable development, most importantly in ending armed conflicts in Africa.
