Susan has a MA in Governance and development from the Institute of Development Policy and Management, Antwerp, Belgium. She also has a BA in Social Sciences from Makerere University, Kampala. Until the Fellowship Programme Susan worked with the Ugandan Ministry of Defense and Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF) to empower women for self reliance, with a particular focus on the wives of soldiers. Susan represented the UPDF spouses desk in conferences on the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Protocol on the prevention and suppression of sexual violence against women and children as well as small arms and light weapons and sexual and gender based violence seminars.

- African Governments’ roles in natural resource distribution.
- Practical processes associated with Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration.
- How African Governments’ address (or not) the health of women and children in Africa.
