Sylvanus Wekesa has a background in History and Political Science from Kenyatta University. Prior to joining King’s College, Wekesa worked as a Research Assistant at the African Leadership Centre, Nairobi. While at ALC, has been part of the Working Group on Leadership and Peacebuilding under the African Peacebuilding Network-ALC partnership studying the Institutional and non-institutional approaches to peacebuilding in Africa. He was also part of the working group on studying the East African Community’s peace and security protocol. He has worked as the inaugural editor of the ALC Newsletter and managed the social media platforms for the center. Previously, he was working as a volunteer Advocacy and Awareness officer in an organization dealing with disability.
Wekesa’s research interests include examining the role of regional economic groups in promoting peacebuilding and security, non-institutional or alternative approaches to peacebuilding and security sector reform in post conflict societies.
