Linganaden Murday
The African Leadership Centre is delighted to announce Linganaden Murday, an alumnus of the ALC Peace and Security Fellowship programme for African Scholars 2017-18, has been awarded one of three King’s College London (KCL) 2020-21 Africa International PGR Scholarships. These new scholarships were available for international students from Africa doing inter-disciplinary research relevant to the continent.
Linganaden will be pursuing a PhD in Maritime Security of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in East Africa. His proposed thesis will use leadership approaches to analyse ways that SIDS in Eastern Africa respond to Maritime Security threats and the significance of these responses for the broader world.
His thesis has close links with ALC’s research agenda particularly on ‘Nodality, Old and New Regionalisms, and African Statehood’ and ‘African Statehood and the International Political Economy’. Linganaden believes that this research will contribute to ALC’s aims of promoting ‘critical engagement with global discourses on peace, security and development’ and the emergence of African ideas of peace, security and development rooted in African realities.
