Dr. Albert Mbiatem
The African Leadership Centre is very pleased to announce that ALC Alumnus Albert Mbiatem has completed his PhD in Political Science at the University of Dschang, Cameroon. The PhD programme was completed on 25 June 2020. Many congratulations to Dr Mbiatem!
His Thesis was titled “International Actors and the Fight against Terrorism in Central Africa: A Comparative Analysis on the Role of the United States and the United Nations in Cameroon”. The study via the Cameroonian case attempts to set out when and how both hard and soft power approaches become relevant or irrelevant in countering terrorism. It fundamentally demonstrates how amidst an array of stakes and constraints, the counter-terrorism roles of the US and the UN in Cameroon have contributed to attaining not more than mixed – desirable and perverse effects – results on political, security, economic and social angles.
Albert Mbiatem is a currently a research aide on the African Leadership Centre’s Leading Practitioners Programme. He also takes part in research in the Central African Hub of the African Leadership Centre. Mbiatem is a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Conflict resolution of the University of Buea and, a Tutor in the Department political Science of the University of Dschang.
Following his completed doctorate, Albert is currently looking for an international job in Policy Organisations, Universities or think tanks. He strongly believes that a status of an international worker will favourably influence his political path in Cameroon as he intends to stand as a presidential Candidate for the 2025 presidential elections in Cameroon.
Very many congratulations again to Dr Mbiatem from all at ALC!
